Civitavecchia (Rome), Italy

Sprawled across seven legendary hills, romantic and beautiful Rome was one of the great centers of the ancient world. Although its beginning is shrouded in legend and its development is full of intrigue and struggle, Rome has always been and remains the Eternal City.

Rome enjoyed its greatest splendor during the 1st and 2nd centuries when art flourished, monumental works of architecture were erected, and the mighty Roman legions swept outward, conquering all of Italy. These victorious armies then swept across the Mediterranean and beyond to conquer most of the known world. With Rome’s establishment as capital of the western world, a new ascent to glory began.

Today’s Rome, with its splendid churches, ancient monuments and palaces, spacious parks, tree-lined boulevards, fountains, outdoor cafés and elegant shops, is one of the world’s most attractive and exciting cities. Among the most famous monuments is the Colosseum. As you walk its cool, dark passageways, imagine the voices that once filled the arena as 50,000 spectators watched combats between muscled gladiators and ferocious animals. Stop to see the remains of the Forum, once the city’s political and commercial center.

In later times, Rome’s squares were enhanced with such imposing structures as the Vittorio Emanuele Monument and grandiose fountains like the Fontana di Trevi. Join the millions who stand in awe of Christendom’s most magnificent church and admire the timeless masterpieces of Michelangelo’s frescoes in the Sistine Chapel.

Rome jars the senses and captures the soul. Grasp all you can during the short, precious time you have available in the Eternal City. With so much to see and do, a day or two will only allow you a sampling of the city's marvelous treasures.

Port:Alicante/Spain
Arrival:8:00 AM
Departure:5:00 PM

Alicante/Spain

Alicante is a port city on Spain’s southeastern Costa Blanca, and the capital of the Alicante province. Its old town, Barrio de la Santa Cruz, has narrow streets, colored houses and a nightlife scene. From here, an elevator or a steep climb leads to medieval Castillo de Santa Bárbara, set on a hilltop with sweeping views of the Mediterranean coast.

Day:4
Port:Malaga, Spain
Arrival:11:00 AM
Departure:9:00 PM

Malaga, Spain

Situated on Spain’s Costa del Sol, Malaga is the region’s capital and a popular holiday destination. The city is known as the birthplace of Pablo Picasso, and for the sweet Malaga dessert wines that come from the hilly vineyards just outside of town. Other points of interest include impressive Gothic architecture, the remains of a Moorish castle and several interesting museums. A pleasant town to explore on your own, Malaga serves as a popular starting point for trips to Granada and resorts along the Costa del Sol.

Splendid Granada and the famed Alhambra are the region’s most outstanding attractions, located inland at the foothills of the Sierra Nevada. Magnificent Moorish palaces and fortifications contrast sharply with Christian churches from Spain’s significant era of the 1492 Reconquest, in which King Ferdinand put an end to eight centuries of Moorish rule.

Some distance inland lies Ronda, famed for its most unusual situation; the town is separated by a 300-foot-deep gorge. Ronda's incredible location affords spectacular views over the valley and distant hills.

Other worthwhile trips from Malaga include such well-known resorts as Torremolinos and Marbella or the white village of Mijas located picturesquely on the hillside above the coastal resorts.

Day:5
Port:Gibraltar, United Kingdom
Arrival:8:00 AM
Departure:5:00 PM

Gibraltar, United Kingdom

Like a crouching lion, the Rock of Gibraltar's imposing presence supports the legend that it is one of the two Pillars of Hercules. Dramatically soaring to almost 1,400 feet, it boasts one of the world's most recognizable silhouettes. Over 140 caves have been discovered within its limestone mass.

Although linked by land to Spain, the self-governing British colony of Gibraltar maintains a strong allegiance to Britain.

Shop the compact commercial center for tax-free treats, or perch atop the summit for thrilling views encompassing Europe and Africa.

Day:6
Port:Casablanca, Morocco
Arrival:7:00 AM
Departure:5:00 PM

Casablanca, Morocco

Casablanca is the largest city in Morocco and the country's economic and business centre. Located on the Atlantic coast of the Chaouia plain in the central-western part of Morocco, the city has a population of about 3.22 million in the urban area, and over 4.27 million in Greater Casablanca, making it the most populous city in the Maghreb region, and the eighth-largest in the Arab world.

Casablanca is Morocco's chief port, with the Port of Casablanca being one of the largest artificial ports in Africa, and the third-largest port in North Africa, after Tanger-Med (40 km (25 mi) east of Tangier) and Port Said.[4] Casablanca also hosts the primary naval base for the Royal Moroccan Navy.

Casablanca is a significant financial centre, ranking 54th globally in the September 2023 Global Financial Centres Index rankings, between Brussels and Rome. The Casablanca Stock Exchange is Africa's third-largest in terms of market capitalization, as of December 2022.

Major Moroccan companies and many of the largest American and European companies operating in the country have their headquarters and main industrial facilities in Casablanca. Recent industrial statistics show that Casablanca is the main industrial zone in the country.

Day:17
Port:Tampa, Florida
Arrival:5:00 AM
Departure:---

Tampa, Florida

Tampa is a major seaport and emerging cruise center on the Gulf of Mexico coast of Florida. It is also a commercial, financial and manufacturing center for the region. Because of its subtropical climate, Tampa is a winter resort and retirement center; it has many beaches and parks. Sights of interest include the picturesque Latin quarter of Ybor City, the Aquarium, Tampa Bay Stadium and Busch Gardens theme park.

The site was settled in 1823, when a plantation was established and Fort Brooke built. Growth of the community was spurred by the discovery of phosphates in 1883, the arrival of the railway in 1885, and the establishment of the cigar-making industry in 1886. During the Spanish-American War the city was an army training camp and was the embarkation point for Cuba of Theodore Roosevelt's Rough Riders. The name Tampa is probably derived from a Caloosa Native American term meaning "sticks of fire""."
